About School

De Shalit High School is located in Rehovot. It was established in 1943, and is named after the physicist Amos De Shalit (1926–1969). On campus, there are two junior high schools (7th to 9th grade) and one high school (10th to 12th grade). There are approximately 2300 students on campus.
Educational Principles: The principals, teachers, counselors and clerical staff at De Shalit try to create a pleasant atmosphere in school and to be attentive to the students' needs, while at the same time maintaining the boundaries necessary for the successful functioning of the school. Working side by side, the staff and the students try to establish a creative and meaningful school environment.
We strive to educate our students to be responsible for their own actions in their studies and at school, in order to prepare them to be responsible adults and contributing members of Israeli society.
Studying in De Shalit: The students in the high school may choose two major subjects out of the following: chemistry, biology, physics, computer science, economics, psychology, geography, Bible, history, literature, music, communication, theater, art, French and Arabic. Along with these subjects, all pupils have to learn mathematics, English and other core subjects.
Some of our students complete their BA while still in high school. In addition, De Shalit High School works closely with the Weizmann Institute of Science. Many students of De Shalit High School participate in many science related projects, mainly in the Davidson Institute of Science Education.
In addition to studying, our students also take part in various educational activities such as: field trips, plays, concerts, trips, sport competitions and lectures on many topics, such as drug and alcohol abuse. There is also a school newspaper and a student council, which has representatives from each class. During the 10th grade students, complete a year of volunteer work in the community.
